Anet has clearly stated in one of the interviews that they have nothing against running, therefore running will not be stopped, at least in the meantime.

Again, I've already /signed it but I really doubt it will change anything...

Runners can get scammed, fact of life.

Learn to protect yourself. Back when i used to run (i just do it for guildies, its boring as hell) i would make it clear to the person im running.

me: I will run you from _______ to _______ for _____ amount. If i get disconnected or fail, please do not quit, and wait for my message, i will continue it for free. Do you agree?
costumer: Yes
me: I have screencapped your agreement, if you fail to comply, i will report you. Screencap this also so you have a copy of the agreement.

This isnt foolproof. But telling your costumer outright that are a professional and dont kid around. Also ask to SEE the cash as soon as you ZONE OUT.

I can do the Lornar's Pass run to Droks - fairly well in fact. I learned how to do it for the challenge of the gauntlet, and as a service to guildies that have completed the game a couple of times already.

However, I don't run random people for money. I still think the running business as a whole is kind of lame. Getting scammed while doing something that isn't really sanctioned by ANet anyways is really...uh...well...your damn problem.

So please, go strike. By all means. Isiah will show up with his warrior and get you to dance. It'll be fun. I'm sure ANet will come to thier senses and include a system for all you professional runners to more efficiently circumvent 70% of the PvE area for people.

Oh, by the way...^sarcasm^

Well, I've gotten alot stricter on my customers since last nights incident.

It seems to be paying off.

My new rules:

Show money up front.

Pay half at a certain half way point or Cut Scene.

Skip Cut Scenes.

Do not go afk, I'll check that all party members are present a couple of times
during the run.

If you refuse payment at the half way point, we will rezone to town, you will be kicked, and the run will start over. In addition, everyone in the group will know who you are, so expect to take a beating.

Everyone must agree to the terms of our agreement.

Do not rush me when discussing these rules and terms or you will get kicked from the group.

Depending on the run, I also guarantee a fast run with no deaths or its free. This is usually added if I see other runners trying to steal my customers. I always tell them that they have the right to take their chances on another runner, but that the outcome will be uncertain and they're probably waisting more time.

I'm also advertising for serious and mature customers only.

This may sound harsh to some people, but I'm seeing some very good results.

I run mostly missions. I make more money on hard missions and find it to be very challenging. I'm really just killing time and saving money for factions.

Maybe they should make it like a taxi where if the light is off it has a passenger. It would be different though where the runner themselves hits a button on screen, (we will call it the run button lol), What this will allow is the abilty for the group leader to kick individuals in the group. Only issue I see with this is at the final destination. Which comes to my next idea. When in a quest zone have the abilty to trade dead or alive in which the trade is possible across the zone and dont need to be standing next to each other.

Thus if those two ideas are implemented which in my opinion shouldnt be that hard to code in there would be no excuse for a person not paying at the zone in and if the peson does not pay the runner can kick him.

Just would have to hope the person doesnt run to teh zone in to destination gets you all to pay then not zone in or kick you all!!!!!

Also since I started running I always ask for money upfront. Lets say I am running to sanctum from TOA for 1k. I ask for 500gp at toa and 500 at fishermans.

Those are some good ideas. I tell my customers that they have choices: You can farm, you can die and watch the run, but you are not allowed to follow me during the run. I can't even count how many times I've had people screw up a run because they were trying to run with me.

/NOT signed.

You don't need a "source of income" in this game. Waste of programming.

Maybe not if you play PvP, but you need a source of income in PvE most definately. Unless of course you enjoy being poor. I also trade and farm, but running can be much more fun and challenging imo.

Absurd. I PvE pretty much only. Do some fissure runs, help people with quests/missions... just pick things up and bang, instant gold. Just for gits and shiggles I made a batch of Deldrimor steel and sold it to the merchant. Hey, I came out ahead!

Bah, just play the game, you'll make enough to compete with anyone.

As for runners... a nice landslide along the Droks path would be a thing of beauty.

Well, we all play the game for our own enjoyment I suppose.

I'm personally very greedy, and need all the video game gold I can get my grubby little hands on!

When factions is released I'll slow down on the running and farming and go back to completing missions and quests for enjoyment. That will soon get old, and if we don't have a new chapter after 6 months then I'm sure I'll be back to farming and running.

I'm against the scam reporting of runners or anyone in general, because anyone can claim that they were scammed and as a runner I've had error007. Reguardless, people know how the trade system works. If someone agrees to do a run and the runner agrees to pay up front that is there own capital that they are risking. I always agree to collect at completion, so in this case I'm taking that risk.

Reporting "scammers" is just whinning and should be removed from the game imo. Someone can simply get there guild to all report one guy as a scammer and BAM! 100's of potential fake claims against your account. Those who get scammed in the trade window are just reckless or stupid. There shouldn't be a special provision for idiots. Especially when it can cause a problems for honest traders.

note- I run people again for free if either them or me get's a log in error. They'll have to message me though, because it's not practical to write everyone's names down on a piece of paper in case of some disconnection problem. Why do i waste my time running? ...because I want skills and I have to grind my way through the gold to buy them! aka - gold sinks create grind that creates runners and farmers and speculators ect.

I think running is trash anyway.. and trust me.. if A-net put a stop to it.. I'd enjoy the game a whole lot more.. but as of now, I just avoid it, and pray that I don't end up in a group with all the idiots you keep running to endgame.

but really, running is a business, and you have to be prepared for scams, from both ends. If you think your never gonna get ripped off doing something that wasn't initially implemented by A-Net, your gonna be sorely dissapointed unless you try to prevent it yourself.

If you scam somone then your a cheat, on Anet if you hack.. cheat you get banned, so scammers should get banned, run scammers however are more to be called unskilfull because if they dont finish the run it basically means that they arent able to
